Some facts about the biggest Swiss bikepacking adventure:
- There is no scoring or ranking – instead it’s all about the personal experience.
- The participants organize their own sleeping places and meals – with overnight stays in the open air, in tents, farms, inns or hotels.
- Despite the logistical aids (GPX track, roadmap, app), the style remains “unsupported” – you ride on your own responsibility.
- The route leads through the cantons of Aargau, Solothurn, Baselland, Bern, Neuchâtel and Vaud.
- It is a shared adventure, a gathering of like-minded people where new friendships are forged and problems and challenges are overcome together.
- The Gravel Trans Jura is both a break and a challenge.
- It combines sporting intensity with scenic enjoyment.
- Anyone who likes to ride independently, discover new regions and experience pure nature will find a format here that is unique in Switzerland.
New this year
After the limited starting places were quickly snapped up at the premiere in 2024, the possible number of participants has been increased to a maximum of 500. In order not to overload the capacity of the hotels, the participants will be split over two starting days (Thursday, June 5 and Friday, June 6, 2025). Numerous optimizations have also been made to the route. The new route offers more riding enjoyment, significantly fewer pushing and carrying sections and, as usual, only rarely asphalt! Pure gravel, right through the Jura!
Growing importance for the region
From this summer, the Gravel Trans Jura Individual offer will also be available in addition to the event. Between mid-June and October, cycling enthusiasts will be able to cross the Swiss Jura on their own but with specially developed equipment. This expansion has been very well received in the various tourist regions!
Andrea Portmann, Managing Director of Tourismus Region Baden AG, emphasizes: “For Baden and the region, the Gravel Trans Jura is a valuable opportunity to present itself to an active, nature-loving public. We look forward to welcoming the participants at the start – and perhaps the journey through will make them want to come again.”
Didier Miéville, Director of Nyon Tourisme, is also looking forward to the event: “We are convinced that this second edition, in combination with the Individual offer, will bring great satisfaction to the participants and all the regions crossed, and we are delighted to once again play an important part in its success as a destination.”
