Dust, gravel, freedom and a new record

The boom continues: on October 19, 2024, Bern will become the center for all those seeking adventure on two wheels. The Gravel Ride & Race Bern 2024 promises not only a sporting highlight but also a record-breaking event. With more than 1,000 participants expected, the event is continuing its steady growth and underlining the growing enthusiasm for gravel biking.

“Gravel is more than just a sport, it’s a way of life. Our event brings people together – from pros to kids,” says organizer Christian Rocha.

Since its premiere in 2018, Gravel Ride & Race Bern has grown to become the largest gravel event in Switzerland and a flagship for a trending sport that, in addition to the sport itself, also offers adventure, community and freedom off the beaten track. To meet the continuous growth of the event, not only the expo and gastronomy offers have been expanded, but also the security concept has been revised, the race track has been adapted at various points and the risk of congestion has been significantly reduced.

From pro to kid

Prominent Swiss athletes such as road pro Fabio Christen, two-time European MTB champion Lars Forster, former winners Lukas Flückiger and Christoph Sauser, gravel specialist Nils Correvon and the currently most successful ultra athlete Robin Gemperle will be competing in the men’s race. Well-known faces among the women are Alessandra Keller, two-time winner of the Mountain Bike Overall World Cup, Vera Looser, Marathon World Cup winner, gravel specialists Karolina Migon and Annabel Fisher, as well as multiple Paralympic champion Manuela Schär, who will be competing in the handbike. For the first time, participants with a handbike will be at the starting line. This adds extra excitement to the event and is a first step towards inclusion.

With the two formats “Ride” and “Race”, the VCS Family Ride and the Kids Cross, there is something for everyone to actively take part in the cycling festival. You can start with a gravel, cyclocross, mountain, handbike or even a running bike. The wonderful, varied route with an incredible amount of gravel roads and only a few meters of asphalt will enchant all participants.

Switzerland’s biggest Gravelexpo
At the now biggest and only specific Swiss Gravelexpo, you can test ride gravel bikes and marvel at the latest bikes and accessories from over 20 exhibitors. Several street food stands will also be on hand to provide the best culinary delights. The range varies from Tibetan specialties, to a classic skewer with French fries, to the popular gelato di Berna. In the Kids World, there is a bouncy castle, roller slide and a skill course. There is something for everyone at the Gravel Ride & Race Bern!

You still have the opportunity to register – but be aware that a late registration fee will be due for all formats from October 14.
