Without flat tires over the track

The Gravel Ride & Race Bern is taking place in three weeks. Now is the time for all participants to get their equipment in shape. After all, a great performance should not be slowed down by technical defects!

Our partner ST Cycling is here to help and will tell you why gravel bikes benefit particularly from tubeless-ready tires.

  • Sealing liquid in the tire automatically seals small punctures or cracks, significantly reducing the risk of punctures caused by thorns, sharp stones or shards.
  • Tubeless tires can be driven at lower pressures without the risk of a “snakebite” (punctures caused by contact with the rim). The lower pressure improves traction and increases comfort, as the tire reacts more flexibly to unevenness, resulting in lower rolling resistance on unsurfaced roads.
  • Less air pressure means that the tires cushion unevenness in the terrain better. This makes the ride more comfortable, especially on long and bumpy roads.
  • Since tubes are not needed, the weight of the tube is eliminated, which reduces the total weight.
  • Lower tire pressure provides a larger contact area between the tire and the ground, resulting in better traction, especially on loose surfaces such as gravel, sand or mud.
  • Once properly installed, tubeless-ready systems typically require less maintenance than conventional systems, as there are no tubes to change or repair.
