Bikepacking Jura

Bikepacking from Baden to Nyon

26.06. – 01.07.2026

The Jura Edition bike packing tour from Gravel Travel is a guided bike packing trip across Switzerland – from the spa town of Baden to Nyon on Lake Geneva. Five days on the road, five nights’ accommodation, travelling at your own pace and enjoying the special feeling of a real crossing. Minimalist, intense and professionally guided.

Day 0 – Arriving in Baden

Check-in & getting settled

On the eve of the first stage, we will meet at 6 p.m. in Baden. After checking into our rooms, there will be a short briefing about the trip, the itinerary and the route – accompanied by a welcome drink and our first dinner together. This will give us time to settle in, get to know each other and mentally prepare for the days ahead.

Overnight stay: Trafo Hotel, Baden

Day 1 – From the Limmat to the Jura

ca. 90 km / ca. 1’900 vm

Baden – Naturpark Thal

We set off on the first stage at 8 a.m. sharp. We ease ourselves into the ride along the River Aare and find our rhythm. The real adventure begins in Olten, where the first long climb takes us into the Jura mountains.

After about 60 kilometres, we take a lunch break before tackling the last few metres of elevation. The day ends high up in the Thal Nature Park – quiet, secluded and far away from everyday life.

Overnight stay: Probstenberg Guest House, Seehof

Day 2 – Wide open spaces & tranquillity

52 km / ca. 1’000 vm

Naturpark Thal – Jurassic Highlands

The second day begins with a descent. Then the landscapes and cantons change: after Aargau and Solothurn, Bern and Jura are added to the mix today. Quiet roads, lonely plateaus and steady rolling characterise this stage.

A day that is less about big numbers and more about tranquillity, vastness and flow.

Overnight stay: CIP Hôtel, Tramelan

Day 3 – The view across the Swiss Plateau

63 km / ca. 1’700 vm

Chasseral – In the heart of the Jura experience

The first major highlight looms ahead of us: the Chasseral. The climb is steady, but the reward is all the greater. From the ridge, there is an impressive view over the Swiss plateau, the lake district and – on a clear day – as far as the Alps. We have arrived in the canton of Neuchâtel.

A day that ranks among the scenic highlights of the trip.

Overnight stay: Hôtel de la Truite, Brot-Dessous

Tag 4 – Queen stage

91 km / ca. 2’500 vm

Creux du Van, medieval towns and tranquil lakes

The queen stage of the Trans Jura journey. Right after breakfast, we tackle the Creux du Van – impressive, striking and unmistakable.

The route continues to medieval Romainmôtier before we reach Lac de Joux in the canton of Vaud at the end of the day. Challenging, varied and rich in impressions.

Overnight stay: Hôtel de la Truite, Le Pont

Tag 5 – Arrival at Lake Geneva

55 km / ca. 900 vm

More metres downhill than uphill and a well-earned dip in the lake

The last stage takes us westwards. With every turn of the pedals, the end of the journey draws nearer – until we finally reach Nyon around midday. The moment when, after six cantons, Lake Geneva finally lies before us and five days on the road become a memory.

Individual journey home from Nyon or optional extension with an extra night by the lake to let the experience sink in.
