On Wednesday, June 5, at 6 pm, the first edition of the Gravel Trans Jura came to an end. The new Swiss bikepacking adventure was characterized by bad weather, deep ground and yet fantastic moments on and off the bike! 165 participants reached the finish in Nyon!
On Friday, May 31, 2024, almost 250 bikepackers set off from Baden (AG) for the first edition of the new Swiss gravel adventure across the Jura. In the most disgusting meteorological conditions, they set themselves a great challenge and a great adventure!
“We were looking for an adventure. We booked an adventure. And we got an adventure!” was how one of the 165 finishers summed up his GTJ participation in Nyon.
In fact, all participants were extremely challenged physically, mentally and also in terms of their equipment. The course turned into a muddy field in places and made the task even more difficult than it already was.
Organizer Christian Rocha was impressed by the spirit and performance of the participants: “We congratulate all the starters and especially all the finishers on a great performance. We were delighted with the great shared moments and the unforgettable emotions at the finish line in Nyon. In the coming days and weeks, we will calmly analyze how the GTJ 2025 will develop. The basic concept has more than proven itself. The task now is to make adjustments so that the majority of the route remains rideable even in bad weather and some challenging sections can be bypassed if necessary.”
