GTJ 2026: Often alone on the road, but never lonely

15. June 2026
Anyone lining up at the start of the Gravel Trans Jura knows that the journey from Baden to Nyon is no ordinary race. It is an adventure that everyone experiences in their own way. With their own rhythm, their own breaks, and their own stories. And yet, something connects the participants that goes far beyond the shared route.

Around 200 riders registered for the Gravel Trans Jura 2026, just under 180 set off, and around 140 finally reached the finish line by Lake Geneva. In between lay around 400 kilometres, numerous Jura hills, and countless moments that will be remembered for a long time.

Because the Gravel Trans Jura is demanding. The long climbs make your legs burn, the many hours in the saddle demand stamina, and not every section is easy. But that is exactly where its fascination lies. Those who put in the sweat are richly rewarded: with panoramic views across the Jura heights, fast descents that make you forget every hard-earned metre of climbing, and the feeling of being completely immersed in the moment.

After the effort comes the reward

Often, participants are out on their own for hours. The silence of the Jura, the solitude of the forests, and the endless ridges give you the feeling of being far away from everyday life. And yet, you are never truly alone.

There is the spontaneous encounter at the fountain in the next village. The short chat outside the village shop. Sharing dinner with people you didn’t even know a few hours earlier. There are the encouraging words when passing each other on the route, or the smile at the finish line in Nyon, which says without words: “You made it.”

It is precisely these encounters and the shared enthusiasm that make the Gravel Trans Jura so special. Here, it doesn’t matter how fast someone is travelling or how many hours they have already spent in the saddle. Everyone shares the same passion for adventure and pride in what they have achieved.

Plenty of sunshine – Pure panorama

This year, the weather also showed its best side for the most part, ensuring excellent conditions. Combined with the unique atmosphere and numerous positive reviews, the organising team draws an extremely pleasing conclusion.

“I rode the route myself this year and now understand the fascination, but also the efforts of our participants, even better,” says project manager Sandra Palli. “The landscape is unique, and for long stretches, you really do feel alone. At the same time, you are never lonely on the road. Somewhere along the way, you always meet like-minded people who share the same enthusiasm for this adventure.”

News on 2027 to follow during the summer

And the journey doesn’t end after this year’s edition. With the Gravel Trans Jura Individual, the adventure remains accessible. Anyone wishing to discover the Jura heights at their own pace can do so all year round. And those who are already eagerly anticipating the next collective edition can look forward to it: initial information on the Gravel Trans Jura 2027 will follow over the course of the summer.
